Every 66 seconds someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and there are over 5 million Americans alone diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
In June, I joined the Alzheimer's Association in a huge fundraising event called The Longest Day. The Alz Association invites people from all over the world to come together on June 21, the summer solstice, and do something they love all day long while fundraising to support the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
For my fundraiser I chose to do an entire day of mini sessions in exchange for a $30 donation to my fundraiser from each client. Thanks to my sweet clients and some very very generous donors, we raised $520 for the Alzheimer's Association!! These photos mean so much to me not only because I really believe that they're some of my best work, but because I am so thankful for the support of these friends in the fight against Alzheimer's.
I can't share every photo from my Longest Day event (that would end up being a blog post of well over 150 images), so here are a few of my favorites from each session.
Session #1: Small Frey
My yearbook adviser, Mrs. Frey (pronounced like french fry), and her son who is affectionately referred to as Small Frey, were my first session of the morning. I had such a blast playing with him and he was so good about taking a break from being silly to smile cute for me real quick!
Session #2: Addison
I have known Addison since she was two so you could say we go a long way back. She is genuinely one of the kindest people I know, she's stinkin' hilarious, and she's absolutely gorgeous! Here are a few of my favorites from her session.
Session #3: Harley
Y'all, Harley's session was so much fun because it's so easy to make her laugh and she always keeps me laughing and she's just adorable!!!!!
Session #4: Maddy
Maddy has been my best friend since kindergarten and her session was a blast because we were pretty much in stitches the whole time from laughing. In most of the photos she's laughing and that makes me happy because they're so reflective of her personality.
Session #5: Sarah & Emily
If you've been following my work for awhile you know how I feel about these babies. Sarah and Emily are my little cousins and pretty much my best friends. I think half of the photos on my phone are of them - they're my favorites!!
Session #6: The Wainscott Family
When my best friend Grace told me that her family wanted to book a session I was so so so excited because the Wainscotts are like, my favorite people ever. Unfortunately, their session got cut a little short and we didn't have as much time as I would've like to capture all their cuteness, but I still think we did an okay job ;)
Session #7: Riley
Alright people I'm fairly convinced that Riley was trained by Tyra Banks to be a model or somethin' because she is seriously so photogenic. She just poses before I even direct her and I'm like YES! Just stay there! Her session was so so good!!
Session #7: Sarah
My last session of the day was with sweet Sarah and it was such a party!! I will admit, I was a little loopy by this point in the day from working so long and the heat, but Sarah is like the cutest human ever so it was an adorable session.
